Welcome to University of Houston-Downtown Research Experience for Undergraduates Summer Research Program. The objective of this program is to academically prepare motivated and talented undergraduate students for graduate schools and advanced research careers through an intensive 10-week summer training program. Students will participate in the full cycle of research activities, including problem analysis, algorithm design, implementation, evaluation, and publication. Experienced researchers from Chevron and NASA will directly participate in the program as mentors.

Application deadline is March 15, 2012. Applicants will be notified by April 22, 2012 about their status (accepted, not accepted, or pending). Once an applicant has been accepted to the program, a response from the applicant, either accepting or declining, must be received by May 1, 2012. REU program will be conducted from June 4, 2012 to August 10, 2012. Students selected for participation will receive a stipend of $4,600, room, and board in a university dormitory. UHD REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) program aims to academically prepare motivated and talented undergraduate students for graduate schools and advanced research careers through an intensive 10-week summer research program. We solicit interest from undergraduate students in Computer Science and allied fields for the UHD REU site. REU is a grant mechanism sponsored by NSF to promote scholastic activities at the undergraduate level. The applicants need to have a solid mathematical background, which includes calculus and statistics, and knowledge of basic algorithms and data structures. Selected applicants will a stipend of $4600 and board to pursue research with faculty or industry mentors. The grant will include a room and travel reimbursement if the applicant is coming from outside the Houston metro area. Project areas are listed under "Project Descriptions."
